The project aimed to evaluate the viability of setting up a recycling plant in Georgia. The plant was supposed to recycle several categories of electronic waste and sell the byproducts locally or externally. PMO evaluated all the variable and fixed costs as well as investment costs attributable to the recycling plant and prepared the revenue-cost model showing the project’s feasibility. The prepared document was intended for shaping Extended Producer’s Responsibility (EPR) national strategy for Georgia

 

BUSINESS PLAN FOR JEWELRY PRODUCTION

DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY AND BUSINESS PLAN FOR AKHTALA RESORT

The aim of the project was to create a strategy and business plan for Akhtala mud rehabilitation resort in Georgia. Within this project PMO analyzed the Georgian tourism market and created a development strategy for the resort. Project investment amount is 7,000,000 USD that covers rehabilitation and development costs of 16-hectare resort. The document is intended for a potential investor, willing to develop the volcanic origin resort in Akhtala.

 

ASSESSMENT OF CURRENT AND FUTURE E-WASTE FLOWS IN GEORGIA

This document was intended to serve as a basis for Extended Producer’s Responsibility (EPR) strategy formulation.

 

BUSINESS PLAN FOR PLASTIC BOX PRODUCTION

PMO developed a business plan for LTD Magiplastic – a factory for producing the plastic boxes for the transportation and storage of various fruits and vegetables. Capacity of the plant will be 480 tons of product for the first year and would employee 22 local people. The project’s initial investment is 2 million GEL. Based on the project, the company received 1.8 million GEL loan from the bank, which is co-financed by Enterprise Georgia.

 

MARKET RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS OF INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY SECTOR IN GEORGIA

The general objective of the project was to develop an innovation and technology sector study, together with the study methodology, in order to provide the Georgian government, international aid organizations, investors, the business sector and academia with a replicable study instrument of the innovation and technology sector in the country. As a result, Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency received a methodology sector study and directory of the ICT sector legal entities.

 

BUSINESS PLAN FOR RECREATIONAL ZONE IN KOJORI FOREST

The general objective of the project was to prepare a development strategy plan, for a 2 hectare recreational zone in Kojori forest. PMO worked on the concept of green space and revealed business development opportunities. PMO delivered a strategy plan, business plan and action plan for two years.

 

EVALUATION OF INTERNAL POLICIES IN COMMERCIAL BANK

The purpose of the project was to review Cartu Bank’s policy / procedures of selling financial products, assessing the practices of the bank in terms of consumer protection, detect existing gaps and suggest possible solutions. The document was prepared for submission to the National Bank of Georgia.

 

MARKET ANALYSIS OF BANKING PRODUCTS

The goal of the project was to support the microfinance institution Credo’s transformation into a banking institution and to assist in development of banking products and services. For this reason, PMO delivered a detailed research of competitor banks’ products’ terms and conditions. The product range, to be studied, included lending products, day-to-day banking products and product packages for retail, micro and SME segment clients. Apart from product terms and conditions, the report included an overview of the bank’s strategy, core processes and procedures related to product sales.

 

GEORGIA’S AUTO MARKET RESEARCH

The purpose of the project was to analyze the current situation of the automobile market, regarding conditions, aging, current regulations, upcoming regulations in the context of EU regulatory framework and other conditions that can have an effect on the development of the auto market. The project also determined the key trends, drivers and forecast for next 10 years. Throughout the research, valuable information was acquired, giving solid ground for making key strategic commercial initiatives.

 

GUDAURI HOTEL DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY AND BUSINESS PLAN

The company planned to build a 120 room hotel in Gudauri on a 2000 m2 area, together with a recreational zone and conference facility. PMO prepared a comprehensive business plan and development strategy for the hotel, which was submitted to Enterprise Georgia and a commercial bank.

The objective of the project was to develop a business plan for company. Based on the plan, Ltd Austrian Trade Bridge will import the Austrian food brand “Trunkel” products for HORECA industry in Georgia by delivering various sausage specialties of good quality to international brand hotels, as well as restaurants having luxury lines. Apart from HORECA, there will be a special shop in Tbilisi to offer high-end sausage specialties to the retail sector. A business plan has qualified in to startup state grant program handled by Partnership fund.

Based on the analysis, PMO identified the main trends in the market and created forecasts for the next five years. After analyzing the environment and company’s position in the market, PMO has identified the company’s vision, developed objectives and market entry strategy. Along with the strategy development, PMO elaborated investment plan.

The project aimed at analyzing the Georgian soft drinks and beer market, making a comprehensive analysis of mar-ket volume and value, local production, export and import patterns, market drivers, sales distribution and seasonality for each of the soft drinks and beer products (ice tea, cola drinks, lemonade and juices). PMO also analyzed the com-pany by assessing its entry strategy for new product lines and current position together with main market players and share of each player in the market. After an analysis of the current situation, PMO has done a market prognosis for the next five years, taking into account future market drivers and growth trends.

The aim of the consulting project was to research companies and their business relationships with neighboring countries and explore opportunities for banking service improvement. PMO performed in depth face-to-face interviews with C-level management in 152 selected companies. The collected information was analyzed and presented to the management, based on which strategic goals of the bank were developed.

The goal of the project was to analyze the fuel market in Georgia. PMO studied the Oil & Gas industry, identified retail market development potentials for various products and segments, analyzed Socar’s key competitors their positioning and strategies, as well as Socars’s market position as well as, fuel and CNG station efficiency. Based on the results key recommendations for further development of the company’s market positions were developed.

The objective of this project was to help FMO determine the potential benefits and challenges of the modern grocery retail market in Georgia and its key players in order to assess the potential of rebranding the grocery retail chain Foodmart into Spar.
PMO made a detailed study of traditional and modern markets, including elements such as pricing, products, supply chain, regulations, key demand drivers and key risks. Based on this report, FMO made the decision to issue a significant long-term loan.

PMO conducted sector specific market research and analyzed the main players, their strategy, customer groups and product lines. The objective of the project was to assist EBRD in evaluation of potential loan application received by Margebeli Holding. PMO performed commercial due diligence and prepared comprehensive report covering value chain, supply and demand, pricing levels and product specifications for locally produced juices, nectars and CSD lemonades. Based on the data, market entry potential of Margebeli holding was evaluated.

PMO conducted a detailed commercial and financial due diligence of Wissol Group on behalf of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The objective of this was to understand the Georgian petrol and CNG markets and identify value chains, demand drivers, competition, prices, profitability and the company’s strategy, financial situation and SWOT analysis. Based on this analysis, EBRD provided a significant long term loan to Wissol Group.

The objective of this project was to develop an expansion plan for a dairy farm, which would double its size and give LGB the scope to develop a modern cheese production facility.
PMO studied the operation of the existing dairy farm and milk processing facility and developed a comprehensive business plan covering the expansion process. As a result, the company was able to increase its capacity and improve important financial indicators.

LGB was a newly established company running a vegetable farm and storage facility. The objective of the project was to develop a business plan including a market analysis for vegetables, marketing, management and investment plans and financial projections.
PMO worked closely with agricultural experts in order to develop a business model for the company and determine the optimal size of the necessary land and storage facilities. Combining these variables maximized the NPV, IRR and other important indicators of the project.

CEMENT MARKET IN CIS COUNTRIES

INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH AND CONSULTING COMPANY

One of the international companies specializing in market research, publication and consulting was focusing on market studies in Central and Eastern Europe. The goal of this project was to research and analyze the cement market in the CIS, Georgian and Ukrainian markets and prepare three independent reports.
The project involved conducting a detailed analysis of the current market situation (from both the demand and supply sides). Based on this, a projection was developed for the next five years. The report also provided detailed information and analyses regarding competition in the industry.

The lender was interested in the viability of the business, the soundness of the forecasts and estimates prepared by project sponsors, the quality and availability of management and service staff at the local level. The scope of the study also involved providing an overview of the Georgian economy and tax commercial due diligence system, also issues related to the expropriation of profits. On the basis of PMO analysis, Gino Wellness Rabat obtained a long-term credit facility from the Slovak Export-Import Bank.

The role of PMO was to conduct an independent evaluation of the above mentioned project. PMO assessed its efficiency and effectiveness, the sustainability of its results and the relevance of the actions CENN had taken. PMO collected information at various levels from project stakeholders and developed a project evaluation document, which was shared with and reviewed by CENN and the project sponsor.
